Rory's Book Answers for The Valley of Secrets

The Valley of Secrets.
WALT:think critically about a text.

1. I wouldn't have done anything to differently compared to Stephen. Maybe I would have explored a little bit more when I could have though. Also, I would’ve gone to the shops and gotten a lot of things so that I wouldn't have to come down again anytime soon to face that strange and nosy shopkeeper, but I also would have spent a bit more time in the town to explore and get to know the community a bit better.

2. I would trade places with Beth, the girl he meets at the end of the story because it seems like she’s going to have an interesting time learning about Lansbury Hall and all of it’s secrets. She also sounds like such a sweet girl, Stephen should trust her with the secrets.

3. I think the best part of the story was when Stephen found the secret valley and discovered Murri-yari, the boy he’d been reading about in all of his great uncle’s journals. They just clicked straight away and Stephen soon became a very close friend of Murri-yari and all of the Bug Whomps.

6. I would recommend this story, but to somebody who’s able to take the time to read a large book but also be able to be patient with the text (as there are a lot of mysteries that come up). Overall, this is a really good read that everybody should try and read.

8. The story could have really happened but without the Bug Whomp species becuase I don't believe there is such thing as them. Otherwise it could actually happen.

10. Important Events (in order)
  • The story introduced Stephen
  • Stephen got the will and some cash
  • He started exploring the house and outside in the property
  • Stephen moved into Lansbury Hall in Cornwall
  • Stephen met/saved Tig ( a bug whomp)
  • Stephen started reading his uncles journals.
  • Stephen followed tig to where Murri-yari and the other bug whomps were waiting.
  • Stephen became good friends with Murri-yari and they did everything together.
  • Murri-yari got malaria and became very sick.
  • The money became a big issue so Murri-yari told Stephen to go to London to sell his necklace.
  • In London Stephen met a girl named Beth.
  • When Stephen came back (quite successful) he discovered Murri-yari had died.
  • He buried Murri-yari and tried to keep things going, (like running the hall).
  • The girl, Beth who he met in London, came to his front gate
